Earlier this fall on one of my thrifting days (oh, but I COULD thrift shop every day of my life and still not get enough--ha,ha) I found these absolutely fabulous old trophy cups!!!!!
They make the perfect holders for my bleached bottle brush trees!!!
Because I am more in to the Shabby Chic look I tend not to use traditional greens and reds at Christmas.......my house is all done up in silver and white and cream.
Sticking green bottle brush trees in bleach overnight turns them a beautiful cream. Add some glitter and Christmas balls and you've got an easy handmade junkstyle decoration.
Happy thrifting my blogging friends.

What a great find. The trees look beautiful inside the cups.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that you could bleach the bottle brush trees, and now I'm mad because I have passed up the ugly colored ones. Next time, I'll know better.
OMG!! The trophys are SPECTACULAR and of course the trees, bow, bling are the icing! When junk sister Cassie sees these, she will flip!! LOVELY as always! Andrea
ReplyDeleteOh Janis I love these!! Can you email me and tell me exactly how to do these please? Liquid bleach? Dry bleach?? Wooden stand and all?? I have a LOT of old green bottlebrush trees. Some have snow and some do not, but I would love to do this to display them this year. BEAUTIFUL!!!
